What's it all about, eh? Well, the BYOPC (or Bring Your Own PC) event is all about the games; we are a games society after all.
The idea was: a load of us meet up to play some PC games. But, instead of renting out a net cafe and listening to biatches and TKers moaning on all night about their settings not being right or having an optical mouse when they're used to a ball, we do three things:
Date : November 18th-19th 2006
Venue : Ard Ris National School
It has now been 3 years since we started running our Bring Your Own PC LANs in DCU and this sees a massive change, we.ve upgraded. For along time its been our intention to get the ball rolling on Intervarsity gaming and this year, in association with the DIT Netsoc, those plans have come to fruition. The result is InterLAN, Ireland.s first Intervarsity LAN series.
This year the event is being held on the 18th/19th November in Ard Scoil Ris, Griffith Avenue, Marino.
Apart from being only down the road from DCU the venue also has one direct bus, the 123 and about 8 buses right beside it including the 42, 42a, 42b, 27, 20b, 43, 27b, the dart is close by and there's a car park!
Due to us (and the SPC) being so lovely we.re covering 60% of the ticket costs so all you guys have to pay is .4 for this great event. If you wish to pay at the door the price goes up to .9 however. As of right now you may book a place by registering on the main InterLAN site here, once you've done that please post here and let us know so we can get your tickets ready and so we'll know exactly how many of you are going. Speaking of tickets they will be made available late next week for collection so keep an eye on your inboxes when the time comes. Payment can then be made when you collect it.
The main games that will be played on the day are.
Additionally any other games requests and suggestions will be welcome.
The tournament games which will have prizes are.
Given that this is an Intervarsity event we will NOT be making set teams for this. Anyone from DCU who wishes to enter is free to do so and free to make whatever team they like, just make sure they know you're from DCU. The individual tourneys are the same, everyone can enter just make sure you wave the DCU flag while doing so.
Right so, here.s what we need you to bring.
There's a chipper/Chinese/pub right across the road and open till at least 1:30am! There is also a Centra left across the road which is open till 10pm and a spar which varies in closing time from 12am to 2-3am.
