Looking at Marek's list, I wasn't aware that Chaos could still take veteran skills and such. Is he using the current codex? Ian, you'd know, right?

I was wondering that myself, the list looks quite similar to the one he trounced me with during the tournament a couple of years back.

Yup...

Looks like it's the old codex. Because the new one is shit I guess. Well, if he's doing it, so am I. 5th ed chaos Codex is fucking shit. There're none of the fecky little customiseable options that made Chaos Marines cool. I miss wargear. Never mind the fact that I hate they way the book was laid out... almost in an effort to use more pages than were necesssary... hence more money. It's like the Galactica 1980 of Codexes. Not even ardent BSG fans think galactica 1980 was in anyway good.

Can someone ask Marek to change his list, so?

Edit: also, the purported shittiness of the current Chaos codex (though I haven't heard any complaints about Lash of Submission) came about as a result of how open to abuse the previous one was. And the fact that none of the Legions lists were playtested.

damn right, i mean, using the old codex i could put an iyanden warlock in a striking scorpion squad to make every single one of them have the same stats as a marine captain, or have wraithlords as troops. not fair at all, no fun to play against.

tl:dr: current codex or GTFO. will try grab marek to give him a good earbashing.

I've already deleted the email with the army list in it can someone pass me on his address or mail him about the problem.

Because of a few beardy gits... everyone elses fun was ruined. That's the way of the modern world, isn't it? Just because some people play like children, doesn't mean all 40k players have to be treated like 12 year olds who are incapable of playing fairly. I am also aware that 12 year old's will in all likeleyhood be beardless, but that's a different matter.

A Chaos Lord should have more options than:
Power Fist or Power Weapon?
Bolter, Combi-bolter?
Terminator armour?
Mark of Chaos?

It's actually a good bit more than that, but still, you get my point. It's like Speccing up a Dell, compared to building a PC yourself. (and yes, I know I own a Dell Laptop... don't point that out) There isn't even a Lieutenant entry available anymore... which was handy if you wanted some sort of a HQ choice in a game this size. To kill the beardy bastard, they removed any way to add some decent juicy flavour to an army. The Wargear pages may be 5 pages long, but at least  half of that is made up of artwork, and the rest of somewhat pointless descriptions with very little juicy meat. Goddamned this Codex was a waste of my time and theirs.

It makes me SO mad.
